OSTEOSPERMUMS

The season for Osteospermums is March through April.

The Osteospermums are vigorous and beautiful plants for the veranda or for use as bedding plants. They will quickly form a flowering covering or a hedge of flowers.

Osteospermums are native to South Africa and are colorful marguerite-like plants.  The large flowers are today available in lovely colors ranging from silver shining whites by happy yellows through to intense lilacs and pinks.

Osteospermums are a vigorous plant which grows and develops through the summer while it willingly puts up new flowers.  It can be transplanted into the garden already in late April and can withstand short and mild frost.

A single plant can grow to a diameter of 40 to 50 centimeters and a similar height during the summer. Osteospermums just love sunshine and will consume quite a lot of water for their vigorous growth. Especially in the first period after transplantation thorough watering is essential until root has developed.
